For the attention of British nationals: a unique chance to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine!
This week, Ukrainska Pravda is announcing the beginning of an auction where we will be selling property of the Russian Ministry of Defence. These are samples of the basic food supply for Russian servicemen fighting against Ukrainians.
You have the opportunity to purchase dry rations (individual food rations) designed to meet the needs of a Russian occupier for one day - i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner. The package is clearly labelled that it is not for sale and is the property of the Russian Ministry of Defence.
What catches the eye is the canned meat in the ration, some of which bears propaganda imagery from the Russian-Ukrainian war - in particular, the "Z" and "V" symbols, as well as the slogan "Svoikh ne brosaem" ["We don't abandon our people"]. The latter symbolises the supposed unity, mutual aid and kinship of the Russian army. This is one of the myths that the empire has been cultivating since the Second World War.
These lots are currently located in Swindon, to the west of London. They were brought there by the family of an employee of Ukrainska Pravda who found refuge from the war in England.
This particular lot was given to us by the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a trophy captured during the Ukrainian offensive in Donetsk Oblast.
By purchasing it, you have the opportunity to contribute to the support of the Ukrainian Defence Forces. The funds raised by the auction will be used to cover logistics costs for the delivery of pickups and jeeps that Ukrainska Pravda buys for the Armed Forces in England.
Technical information:
The starting price for the lot (everything you see in the photo above) is £300. The minimum price we would like to sell this lot for is £750. This sum, in our experience, is equivalent to the cost of shipping one pickup truck or jeep from England to Ukraine.
You can place your bids by replying to this Facebook post from the manager of the lot, Natalya Ryasnaya, who is currently living in England and already has experience in transporting English cars for the Armed Forces.
The auction will be won by the bidder who offers the highest price. The auction will begin on 20 January and end on 30 January.
