"The task for the Swedish Armed Forces is to prepare for the transfer of artillery systems to Ukraine," is the wording of the issue on the agenda on the government's website.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said last week that he was expecting his government's decision on further military support for Ukraine by the end of January.
The Swedish PM said in the conversation with the journalists that in a recent phone call he told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that "we want to do more," adding that he expected "decisions to be made in January".
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Sweden promised that Ukraine would receive Archer self-propelled gun systems, the possibility of which was discussed last year.
The artillery part of the Archer self-propelled gun system is represented by a 155-mm FH 77B gun. The charging device allows a person to release six projectiles in 30 seconds along different trajectories.
The maximum range of the Archer self-propelled guns is from 30 to 60 kilometres, and the maximum rate of fire is 8-9 shots per minute, with a deployment time of 30 seconds.
It is known that Sweden has at least 48 Archer systems in service.
