"The issue does not concern the capabilities and authority of the IAEA Director General.

Many bodies, like the IAEA, consist of many participants or members, and political decisions are made during the discussion, evaluation and approval by all member states," Grossi said.

The IAEA Director General was asked why Russia's IAEA membership status has not been revoked and under what conditions this is possible.

Grossi has responded by saying that such a decision does not depend on his will.

On 16 January, the IAEA team, headed by Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, arrived at the site of the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant.

The International Atomic Energy Agency is expanding its presence in Ukraine to help prevent a nuclear accident during the ongoing war.
