Russian forces kill 9 and injure 10 Ukrainian civilians in 24 hours

Ten people have been injured and nine have been killed due to the actions of Russian troops, including five victims of the missile strike on an apartment building in the city of Dnipro.

Details: Civilian casualties in armed aggression of the Russian Federation on 16 January:

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast – five people killed and four wounded (discovered after the missile attack on Dnipro on 14 January);

Donetsk Oblast – two people killed and one wounded;

Mykolaiv Oblast – one person killed;

Kharkiv Oblast – two people injured;

Kherson Oblast – one person killed and three injured.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk OMA, reported that Russian troops attacked Kramatorsk around midnight, hitting an industrial facility. A large area has been affected. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.

On the Volnovakha front, five houses were damaged in Vuhledar; Novoukrainka came under fire as well, resulting in no casualties among the civilians.

One person was killed in Sieverne in Ocheretyne hromada [an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories – ed.]. Sporadic strikes on Avdiivka, Marinka and the outskirts of Kurakhove hromada were reported, and in the morning [of 17 January – ed.], the village of Kurakhivka was attacked with the use of multiple rocket launchers.

On the Horlivka front, one person was killed in the town of Bakhmut. Two private houses and a multi-storey building were damaged in the town. A house was damaged in the village of Kalynove in Illinivka hromada. The situation in Soledar hromada is tense, as Soledar, Paraskoviivka, Rozdolivka and Fedorivka are under Russian fire.

On the Lysychansk front, a residential building was damaged in the town of Lyman, and Siversk is under fire as well.

Yaroslav Yanushevych, Head of Kherson OMA, said that Russian invaders hit Kherson Oblast 102 times. Russian troops deployed artillery, MLRS, mortars, tanks and UAVs to conduct the attacks.

Russian forces hit the city of Kherson 36 times, with residential areas of the city once again coming under invaders’ fire. The occupiers hit a boarding school, a hospital and residential buildings.

On 16 January, one person was killed and two residents of Kherson Oblast sustained injuries of varying severity due to Russian attacks.

Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv OMA, reported that at 22:53 on 16 January, the Russian army conducted artillery strikes on a settlement in Ochakiv hromada. One person was killed in the attack. Social infrastructure and residential buildings were damaged.

The day and night were relatively calm in the city of Mykolaiv and Pervomaisk, Voznesensk, and Bashtanka districts of Mykolaiv Oblast.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv OMA, reported that Russian troops kept terrorising civilians on 16 January in the frontline settlements of Kupiansk, Chuhuiv and Kharkiv districts in Kharkiv Oblast.

Two five-storey apartment buildings and seven private households were damaged by Russian attacks in the city of Kupiansk. A 41-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were wounded.

Russian attacks damaged a building belonging to the central district hospital and seven private houses in the town of Vovchansk, Chuhuiv district, in Kharkiv Oblast.

Three private houses and a civil industrial facility were damaged in the village of Bilyi Kolodiaz, Chuhuiv district.
