Ukraine's defence forces repel Russian attacks near 14 settlements – General Staff report

On 13 January, Ukraine’s defence forces repelled Russian attacks in the vicinity of 14 settlements.

Quote: "Over the course of the past 24 hours, enemy forces carried out 15 airstrikes and 5 missile strikes, including 2 on civilian infrastructure in the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast. They deployed multiple-launch rocket systems [MLRS] to conduct over 95 attacks [on Ukraine], including on the city of Kherson.

Enemy forces continue to focus their main efforts on trying to capture all of Donetsk Oblast within its administrative borders. They continue their offensive on the Bakhmut front.

They are also conducting an unsuccessful offensive on the Avdiivka front and continuing to attempt to improve their tactical positions on the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts.

Over the course of the past 24 hours, units of Ukraine’s defence forces repelled the occupiers’ attacks in the vicinity of Ploshchanka, Bilohorivka and Chervonopopivka in Luhansk Oblast, and Rozdolivka, Sil, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Vodiane, Kreminna, Pobieda, Maiorsk, Marinka and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk Oblast."

Details: No Russian offensive groups have been spotted on the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna or Slobozhanshchyna fronts, though Russian forces attacked Mykhailivka and Yanzhulivka (Chernihiv Oblast); Popivka, Yastrubshchyna, Studenok and Pavlivka (Sumy Oblast); and Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Budarky, Mali Prokhody, Zelene, Neskuchne, Strilecha, Ternova, Bilyi Kolodiaz, Bolohivka, Dvorichna and Hryhorivka (Kharkiv Oblast).

On the Kupiansk front, Russian forces fired on areas in and around Vilshana, Kupiansk, Orlianka, Kyslivka, Petropavlivka, Krokhmalne, Tabaivka and Berestove (Kharkiv Oblast) and Stelmakhivka (Luhansk Oblast).

On the Lyman front, Makiivka, Nevske and Chervonopopivka (Luhansk Oblast) came under Russian fire.

On the Bakhmut front, Spirne, Bilohorivka, Rozdolivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Bila Hora, Verkhnokamianske, Vesele, Kurdiumivka, Druzhba and Pivnichne (Donetsk Oblast) came under Russian attack.

On the Avdiivka front, Russian forces attacked Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Berdychi, Vodiane and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk Oblast).

On the Novopavlivka front, Vuhledar, Vermivka and Zolota Nyva (Donetsk Oblast) came under Russian fire.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, Russian forces deployed tank guns, mortars and tubed and rocket artillery to fire on areas in and around Vilne Pole (Donetsk Oblast); and Huliaipilske, Dorozhnianka, Zaliznychne, Huliaipole, Shevchenko, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Kamianske, Zelenyi Hai and Malynivka (Zaporizhchia Oblast).

On the Kherson front, Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Lvove, Sadove and Kherson came under Russian fire.

The General Staff also reported that Russian occupation forces have reinforced counter-sabotage and counter-reconnaissance measures on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, the General Staff report mentions that Russian forces conduct selective checks of local residents’ mobile phones in the town of Velyka Lepetykha (Kherson Oblast) in order to search for photos and videos of Russian military equipment. As of 12 January 2023, three civilians have been detained and taken in an unknown direction.

Ukrainian aircraft conducted 9 airstrikes on areas of concentration of Russian occupation forces. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck 2 Russian command posts, 8 concentrations of Russian military personnel, an anti-aircraft missile system, 3 ammunition storage points and 2 other critical military targets.
