Ukrainian military denies Kremlin's statement city of Soledar is captured
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has posted a video from Soledar, in which a fighter who goes by the alias of Madiar asks not to believe the statements from Moscow and shows evidence that Ukrainian military forces are fighting fiercely in the centre of the city.
Source: General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram
Details: Madiar asks people to stop listening to Russian propaganda that claims the Armed Forces of Ukraine have withdrawn from Soledar. According to him, the Ukrainian military is fighting for the city, and this is happening right now, as of 14:13 Friday.
The serviceman claimed that his unit stood in the downtown Soledar, and even reported some good news, saying that Russians tried to bypass the city from the flank, but the Ukrainian troops pushed them back, and the hostile force retreated.
Quote: "The Armed Forces of Ukraine stand in an echeloned, impenetrable wall of defence with sufficient forces. Yes, the Wagner assault units are constantly attacking... but we don't care about their plans, we’re doing our job, and we do it well, and we will do it to the end... Have patience!"
In the first video, Madiar slandered himself and called the date of 13 December. After that, the General Staff added another video where the soldier stands corrected, saying he was trolling the Russians.
Background: On 13 January, the Russian Defence Ministry made an official statement about the capture of the city of Soledar in Donetsk Oblast; the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has not confirmed this, admitting that heavy fighting continues in the town.
