France hopes to supply Ukraine with AMX 10-RC wheeled tanks within two months

French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecornu has said he expects to supply Ukraine with AMX-10 RC heavy armoured personnel carriers, also classified as wheeled tanks, within two months.

Source: French Defence Ministry in a statement following a conversation between the Minister and his Ukrainian counterpart Oleksii Reznikov, as reported by European Pravda.

Quote: "The ministers agreed that the supply of French-made AMX-10 RC light tanks to Ukraine, as agreed in principle by President Macron in a conversation with President Zelenskyy on 4 January, would take place within two months," the statement said.

Details: The ministers also discussed the organisation of rapid training for Ukrainian vehicle operators.

Oleksii Reznikov reportedly thanked his colleague for the Crotale air defence systems that helped save lives during the recent bombing of Kyiv.

Background: Last week, a number of partners announced new assistance packages for Ukraine. For instance, on 6 January, the United States announced the largest of all the provided packages, which will include M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery systems, missiles and hundreds of thousands of ammunition rounds.

Germany promised to provide Marder infantry fighting vehicles, and, following the United States, an additional battery of the Patriot missile defence system.

The President of France announced the provision of AMX-10 RC French wheeled tanks.
