Defence Forces repel Russian attacks near 9 settlements and destroy 13 Shahed drones – General Staff
The Defence Forces of Ukraine repelled Russian attacks near 9 settlements and destroyed 13 Iranian-made UAVs on 31 December.

Quote: "The enemy carried out 31 missile and 12 air strikes over the past 24 hours; in addition, they fired more than 70 times from multiple launch rocket systems. Civilian infrastructure of the oblasts of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Kherson was damaged. Information regarding casualties among civilians is being ascertained.
Moreover, the enemy launched 13 Iranian-made Shahed-136 attack UAVs. They all were destroyed by the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
Our soldiers repelled occupiers’ attacks in areas in and around the settlements of Stelmakhivka, Ploshchanka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast and Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Ozarianivka, Marinka and Pobieda in Donetsk Oblast over the past day."
Details: On the Volyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, there is no significant change in the situation. The Russians keep their military presence in the border areas, however, there are no signs of the formation of offensive groups.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, Russian forces used artillery and mortars to attack the areas of the settlements of Buchky and Yasna Poliana in Chernihiv Oblast; Novovasylivka, Vyntorivka, Ulanove, Studenok, Khodyne, Hirky, Iskryskivshchyna and Krasnopillia in Sumy Oblast; Udy, Strilecha, Alisivka, Krasne, Starytsia, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Ternova and Katerynivka in Kharkiv Oblast.
On the Kupiansk front, the Russians fired near the settlements of Lozova Persha, Zapadne, Masiutivka, Tokarivka, Kupiansk and Orlianske in Kharkiv Oblast; Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka and Andriivka in Luhansk Oblast.
On the Lyman front, Ploschanka, Makiivka, Nevske and Dibrova in Luhansk Oblast, as well as Chervonopopivka, Terny and Torske in Donetsk Oblast came under Russian fire.
On the Bakhmut front, the invaders fired on positions of Ukrainian forces from tanks, mortars, tubed and rocket artillery, in the areas of more than 25 settlements, including Spirne, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Kostiantynivka, Kurdiumivka, Maiorsk and Niu York in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Avdiivka front, Russian forces attacked the settlements of Vesele, Avdiivka, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Novopavlivka front, the invaders continued firing at Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Velyka Novosilka, Mykilske and Vremivka in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Zaporizhzhia front, occupiers attacked the areas of more than 20 settlements. Among them are Olhivske, Huliaipole, Stepove, Charivne and Dorozhnianka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
On the Kherson front, the Russians continued terrorising civilians. In particular, the civilian infrastructure of Antonivka, Tokarivka, Mykolaivka and Kherson was damaged.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that the Russians enhanced counterintelligence measures and started carrying out searches of pro-Ukrainian civilians near the settlement of Lyman Druhyi in Kharkiv Oblast.
Ukrainian aircraft struck a cluster of Russian military manpower and their anti-aircraft missile system. Besides, Rocket Forces and Artillery hit a command post, four clusters of Russian military personnel and a UAV command post.
