Russia attacks several energy facilities at once overnight, deficit in power grid remains
Gradual restoration of Ukraine’s power system after the recent large-scale missile attack from Russia continues, but a significant deficit of electricity still persists: on Tuesday evening, the Russian Federation repeatedly attacked several energy infrastructure facilities.
It is reported by National energy company Ukrenergo as of 11:00, 7 December.
Thus, at the nuclear power plants, the power units that were previously disconnected due to damage to the power grids resume working gradually.
"A difficult situation remains in the east of the country: yesterday evening, the enemy repeatedly attacked several energy infrastructure facilities at once, while the temperature in this Oblast reached -17 degrees Celsius. Currently, 24-hour emergency repair work is underway.
Also, repair crews are working to eliminate the consequences of the missile attack in Kyiv and Odesa Oblasts, setting up power supply to the oblasts according to back up sources," the message says.
Ukrenergo emphasises that there is still a significant deficit in the power system. All regional network operators have been informed on limits on electricity consumption
"Unfortunately, there are already Oblasts where the consumption limits have been exceeded, so emergency shutdowns have been implemented. This is a forced step applied to maintain balance in the power system. Depending on how quick the electricity generation is restored, the limits on its consumption will also change," the business added.

The Russian occupiers attacked the energy facility of DTEK [Ukraine’s largest private energy company] twice on Tuesday, 6 December, disconnecting it from the power system as a result.
