Territorial defence battalions begin forming in Belgorod Oblast of Russian Federation
Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of Belgorod Oblast, has announced the beginning of the formation of territorial defence battalions, which, if necessary, will be ready to "protect" the oblast.

Quote from Gladkov: "Literally, from the first days of the beginning of the special military operation [war with Ukraine – ed.], many residents of Belgorod Oblast appealed to the need to start the training and formation of territorial defence or self-defence units. We made such a decision."
Details: As the Russian governor states, several battalions will be formed from those who have not been mobilised for some reason, but have a desire and combat experience.
It is promised that newcomers will be taught by experienced instructors who participated in "local wars". They will conduct training and combat rallying of units on the territory of all border areas of the oblast.
Background: On 22 November, Gladkov reported that a defensive ‘zasechnaya’ line [Great Abatis Line – ed.] is being built in the oblast of Russia, as the Russians are preparing for an "attack" by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. "I'm talking about the formation of the Belgorod line, the Belgorod ‘zasechnaya’ line," emphasised Gladkov.
