EKONOMICHNA PRAVDA – MONDAY, 5 DECEMBER 2022, 19:28

There will be emergency blackouts throughout Ukraine due to Russia’s latest massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

This was reported by the press service of the grid operator, Ukrenergo.

Ukrenergo explained that due to the attacks, some electric power plants will not be able to work at full capacity for some time. This, along with the increasingly cold weather, will cause an increase in the electricity shortfall in the system over the next few days.

"An emergency blackout regime will be implemented in all oblasts of Ukraine in order to maintain the balance between electricity generation and consumption. Critical infrastructure facilities - hospitals, water pipelines, heating plants - will be supplied with electricity as a priority," Ukrenergo said.

Ukrenergo stressed that its dispatchers and engineers are working on supplying the regions which suffered from the attacks through backup power supply schemes. Consumers are already being supplied with energy wherever possible.
