Saboteur from Donetsk Oblast to spend 15 years behind bars for treason

Another militant of the terrorist organisation "DPR" [Donetsk People's Republic] has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars in Zaporizhzhia Oblast with confiscation of property.

Details: A resident of Donetsk Oblast was found guilty of treason and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.

According to the investigation, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the man voluntarily joined the occupation groups of the 1st Army Corps of the Southern Military District of the Russian Federation.

Having arrived in Polohiv district, he carried out the orders of commanders of the Russian army, setting up roadblocks, at which he provided control and access functions, defending the designated combat positions to maintain the temporarily occupied territories of the Zaporizhia Oblast.

In July 2022, the man voluntarily signed a contract for military service in the ranks of the Russian army. 

As part of a reconnaissance group of enemy troops, he took an active part in combat operations against Ukraine's defence forces at the Zaporizhzhia front.

In July, as part of a Russian sabotage and intelligence group, he was ordered to conduct an outing on the positions of the Armed Forces on the front line to destroy strongholds of Ukrainian defenders.

However, during the raid, the Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group was promptly exposed and eliminated, and the militant himself was captured.
