Details: Ivan Kubrakov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus, said that the decision to create such units is related to the war in Ukraine, protests in Belarus itself, which the authorities have managed to suppress, as well as events in Kazakhstan.
"We decided to increase the combat capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by creating special purpose units in Minsk and in the future in all regional centres," he emphasised.
On 5 December, Belarus created a Smerch special task force to combat sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed units.
