Details: The Russian troops hit the centre of Kherson city on 24 December. According to the last information available, 8 people have been killed and 58 wounded. Bridget Brink, the US Ambassador to Ukraine, has condemned the attack.
Background: The only oblast centre that Russia managed to capture since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February was Kherson. It was liberated in the beginning of November as a result of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
