There is still a significant capacity shortage in the power system – Ukrenergo
As of Sunday morning, 18 December, the process of restoring the operation of the power system continues, but the volume of electricity consumption increased compared to Saturday, which affected the indicators of the shortage in the systems.
This is a report from the press service of Ukrenergo.
The shortage in the power grid was affected by both the damage to the energy infrastructure facilities during the 9th missile strike and a seasonal drop in temperature.
In addition, the nuclear power plants (NPPs) have reached their planned capacity. The exception is that the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP continues to be in unit shutdown mode.
"Consumption limits have been brought to all regional power companies. If they are exceeded, emergency shutdowns can be applied," Ukrenergo said.
To get information about outages in your region, follow the notifications of distribution system operators (oblenergo). The list of regional power companies can be found here: http://bit.ly/3tGVpah.
In addition, weather conditions (increased frost, strong winds) complicate the repair work that continues throughout Ukraine in high-voltage and distribution networks, and at power plants.
Note:
Ukraine received a cargo of power equipment from the Republic of Azerbaijan to support the energy sector, particularly in the regions most affected by Russian attacks.
