City services are working to restore heat and water to all residents of the capital by morning. Power engineers are working to stabilise the power supply system," Klitschko said.

The mayor recalled that due to the damage to the power system and emergency power outages, metro trains will not run for the rest of the day on Friday, 16 December. At the same time, underground stations are being used as shelters.

"We understand that the main thing for us now is to get the metro working again, because it is the main artery of the city for public transport passengers. And we are working on that. In the meantime, we are asking Kyiv residents to use surface-level public transport. Today, buses are running in the city on a permanent schedule, as are the bus routes that have replaced trolleybus routes.

We have more than 500 of these now. Tomorrow, the capital will launch additional buses that will duplicate the tram routes. In addition, the city will organise buses that will partially duplicate the metro routes," the mayor of Kyiv added.

According to Klitschko, the city authorities will keep people informed on changes in the operation of public transport. The schedule can be found on the official resources of the capital's authorities.

"Private carriers in Kyiv have been instructed to increase the number of buses on routes in the form of fixed-route taxis. Special attention is being paid to routes that duplicate electric transport: the metro, trolleybuses and trams," Klitschko concluded.
