Ukraine’s Armed Forces repel Russian attacks near 22 settlements – General Staff

Ukraine's defence forces repelled Russian attacks near 22 settlements and hit five Russian command posts on 16 December.

Quote: "Over the past 24 hours, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have repelled attacks by Russian occupiers in the areas of the settlements of Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Ploshchanka, Chervonopopivka and Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast), and Hryhorivka, Vyimka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Kurdiumivka, Ozarianivka, Druzhba, Oleksandropil, Novobakhmutivka, Nevelske, Marinka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka  (Donetsk Oblast).

Over the past 24 hours, the invaders launched 23 airstrikes and 4 missile strikes, 2 of which hit civilian targets in the city of Kharkiv. Also, the enemy performed 78 attacks using multiple-launch rocket systems. This includes casualties among civilians in residential areas as well."

Details: There were no significant changes on the Volyn, Polissia and Sivershchyna fronts. There is no evidence that Russia is forming additional units to launch a new offensive. Russians carried out mortar attacks on the settlements of Zapsillia and Popivka (Sumy Oblast).

On the Slobozhanshchyna front, Russian forces fired from tanks and artillery on the settlements of Chervona Zoria, Vysoka Yaruha, Krasne, Morokhovets, Starytsia, Dvorichna and Novomlynsk (Kharkiv Oblast).

On the Kupiansk front, Russian forces fired from tanks, mortars, tubed and rocket artillery in and around the settlements of Vilshana, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, Kotliarivka, Berestove and Pershotravneve (Kharkiv Oblast), and Stelmakhivka and Miasozharivka (Luhansk Oblast).

On the Lymansk front, Russians launched attacks near the settlements of Makiiivka, Ploshanka and Chervonopivka (Luhansk Oblast), and Yampolivka and Vedmezhe (Donetsk Oblast). 

On the Bakhmut front, the occupiers attacked areas around settlements. Among them were Verkhnokamianske, Spirne, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Hryhorivka, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, Kurdiumivka, Ozarianivka, Pivnichne and Opytne (Donetsk Oblast). 

On the Avdiivka front, the settlements of Avdiivka, Vodiane, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka (Donetsk Oblast) came under Russian fire.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts, Russian forces fired from tanks, mortars, tubed and rocket artillery in and around the settlements of Vremivka, Novopil (Donetsk Oblast), Huliaipole, Dorozhnianka, Huliaipilske, Orikhiv and Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia Oblast), Marhanets and Nikopol (Dnipropetrovsk Oblast) and Novotiahynka, Ivanivka, Tokarivka, Inhulets, Prydniprovske, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Kherson, Bilozerka and Yantarne (Kherson Oblast).

During the day, the Ukrainian Air Force delivered 22 strikes on clusters of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, as well as three strikes on Russian anti-aircraft missile system positions. Also, our defenders shot down 2 Orlan-10 type UAVs.

In addition, Rocket Forces and Artillery units targeted five command posts, four clusters of personnel, six artillery and two ammunition storage points as well as a warehouse containing fuel and lubricants.
