We are preparing agreements that will strengthen Ukraine's defence capabilities – Zelenskyy

Ukraine is making progress on the issue of air defence and is preparing agreements that will strengthen its defence capabilities and provide more operational capabilities, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Quote: "We are preparing agreements that will strengthen our defence capabilities and provide more operational capabilities to Ukraine.

Today, I held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. We talked, in particular, about protecting the sky. We are constantly strengthening our air and anti-drone defences. And we are doing everything possible to get more modern and powerful systems for Ukraine.

This week, we have made important progress on the issue of air defence."

Details: Zelenskyy added that the situation in Donbas and other active areas on the contact line had been discussed in detail at the meeting of the staff. 

"There is no peace on the contact line. There is nothing easy or simple. Every day and every metre is extremely hard. And especially where all the tactics of the invaders are reduced to the destruction of everything in front of them with artillery, so that only ruins and craters in the ground remain," the president said, adding that he had mentioned this in an address to the European Parliament.

Zelenskyy stressed that "Russia is destroying city after city in Donbas, like Mariupol, like Volnovakha, and like Bakhmut". 

Quote: "Defending in such conditions is not just heroism; it's something more. And I thank all of our soldiers who have stood up to the invaders.

I would like to mention the soldiers of the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade, who very skillfully and very bravely defeated the enemy during another attack and forced him to retreat. Well done!

I would also like to mention the soldiers of the 80th and 95th Air Assault Brigades, who are fighting on the Kreminna front and do it very effectively. Thank you, warriors!"

Details: Zelenskyy also thanked the 96th Missile Air Defence Brigade of the Air Force, which defends the skies over Kyiv Oblast.

He recalled that on the morning of 14 December, 13 Shahed kamikaze drones were shot down in Kyiv Oblast. "These are 13 saved infrastructure facilities, and these are saved lives. During one morning."
