Arm will function: Azovstal defender Mykhailo Dianov successfully undergoes surgery in USA
Mykhailo Dianov, a marine and defender of Azovstal steelworks, who was wounded in the arm, successfully underwent a surgery in the United States.
The marine was shot in March 2022 while defending Mariupol.
On 13 December, Dianov underwent surgery on his right shoulder in the city of St. Louis, Shakhtar Football Club reports on Instagram.
The operation was successful. After rehabilitation, Mykhailo’s right arm will fully function.
Dianov will return to Ukraine in the coming days.
Mykhailo Dianov, a soldier of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade, defended Mariupol and was wounded while defending his position at Azovstal.
The photo of Mykhailo made by his comrade-in-arms Dmytro Kozatskyi in the dungeons of Azovstal went around the world.
After leaving the territory of the metal plant, Mykhailo did not get proper medical care in Russian captivity.
It was possible to bring the fighter back home during a large exchange of prisoners of war on 21 September.
Ukrainians began to raise funds for Mykhailo's treatment: he handed over this sum [over US$81mln] to the Association of Families of Defenders of Azovstal.
Recently, Mykhailo said that he appeared on the cover of the inclusive calendar from the Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2023.
