No power facilities damaged during morning attack, but situation in power system still difficult
Energy infrastructure facilities were not damaged during a massive drone attack on the morning of 14 December, thanks to the brilliant work of the air defence forces; all 13 UAVs were shot down. However, the situation in Ukraine’s energy system is still difficult, states Ukrenergo company, the national power regulator.
"Another block was put into operation at a nuclear power plant yesterday. This helped not to apply emergency shutdowns over the past day [13 December] to balance the power system.
But the situation in the Ukrainian energy system is still difficult due to considerable damage to the energy infrastructure. There is still a significant shortage of electricity," the company stressed.
Ukrenergo notes that the most difficult situation is in Ukraine’s east; due to almost daily attacks, power facilities are being constantly damaged. Repair works are slowing down due to the danger to the lives of repair crews.
All regional power companies have been informed about the limits of daily electricity consumption.
"Ukrenergo repair teams, together with colleagues from regional power companies and manufacturing companies, work around the clock to restore equipment damaged during the attacks," the company concluded.
