Less than a dozen: Border guards told how many Russians entered Ukraine with visas
Since the implementation of a visa regime for Russia, seven Russian citizens have entered Ukraine, mostly for humanitarian reasons.
Source: Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.
Quote: "As stated earlier by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, 10 visas for the Russian Federation citizens were issued during the 4.5 months of the visa regime. We see that the number of issued permits is quite small, and they are issued only in special cases, when it is connected with a humanitarian component.
According to the information available to me, among those who received a visa, seven people crossed the Ukrainian border to enter. These are mainly women and also two men. At the same time, these are either elderly people, or those who were going to Ukraine for family reunification.
We will continue to carefully check all citizens of the Russian Federation who plan to enter the territory of Ukraine."
Details: Since February 24, when Russia treacherously attacked Ukraine, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine staff have processed more than 26 million people in both directions at the state border, as of the end of November.
Due to objective reasons, the number of people crossing the border decreased compared to 2021, including the border crossing by foreigners.
The number was also affected by the closure of checkpoints on the border with Belarus, Russia and on the Transnistria segment of the border with Moldova.
Special attention was paid to citizens of Russia who tried to enter Ukraine through existing checkpoints.
Starting on 1 July 2022, Ukraine implemented a visa regime for Russian citizens.
