Metropolitan of Kyiv confers Order of the OCU on head of Defence Intelligence

The Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Epiphanius, presented the head of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, Kyryl Budanov, and the heads of the intelligence units with an Order of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).

Quote: "The Metropolitan honoured Kyryl Budanov with the Order of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious. Three other officers of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence received the Order of the Archangel Michael from His Beatitude."

Details: Major General Budanov and intelligence officers discussed with the primate of the OCU the liberation of servicemen from captivity and the prospects for the complete liberation of Ukraine.

The head of Defence Intelligence emphasised that "the decisive period of the war is coming."

For his part, Metropolitan Epiphanius thanked all the defenders for their "selfless struggle to protect Ukraine."

• The Order of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious is a Ukrainian non-state award, founded by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to honour people for their services to the local Church; the order has one degree.
• The Order of the Archangel Michael is a Ukrainian non-state award, founded by the OCU to honour people for their services to the local Church; the order has two degrees.
• The honours were established by the decision of the Holy Synod of 4 February 2020. The awarding of orders is carried out by the head of the OCU.
