Zelenskyy and Scholz discuss how to protect Ukraine from Russian missile attacks
In a telephone call, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have discussed bilateral cooperation to protect Ukraine from Russian missile attacks.
The Ukrainian President tweeted about this, European Pravda reports.
Quote: "I thanked [the Chancellor – ed.] for supporting the ‘Grain from Ukraine’ initiative. We also discussed the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula and cooperation to protect Ukraine from Russia’s terrorist missile attacks," the tweet reads.
Earlier, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier asserted that for now, he saw no possibility of peaceful negotiations or a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
He also called for stronger support for Ukraine in view of the mass destruction of energy infrastructure in the country.
Germany had offered Patriot surface-to-air missile systems to Poland to secure the country’s airspace after recent events when a rocket hit Polish territory, leading to the death of two people.
Mariusz Błaszczak, the Polish Minister of Defence, asked Germany to send the Patriot systems to Ukraine instead.
Germany said Poland’s request that the systems be sent to Ukraine would be discussed with its allies.
