"I welcome the European Parliament’s decision to recognise Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and as a state which uses means of terrorism. Russia must be isolated at all levels and held accountable in order to end its long-standing policy of terrorism in Ukraine and across the globe," Zelenskyy tweeted.

"Russia is a terrorist state: confirmed by the European Parliament. Russia has a history of acts of terror against sovereign states, support for terrorist regimes and organisations, including Wagner [a Russian paramilitary organization], and the war of terror against Ukraine. I thank the European Parliament and its president for their clear stance," Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted.

In a vote on Wednesday, the European Parliament supported the resolution recognising Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
The resolution was supported by 494 MEPs, while 58 voted against it and 44 abstained.
In the resolution, MEPs called on the EU and its member states to take measures to initiate a comprehensive international isolation of the Russian Federation, including as regards Russia's membership of international organisations and bodies such as the UN Security Council, and to refrain from holding any official events on the territory of the Russian Federation.
It should be emphasised that the resolution is not legally binding.
