Border guards describe how Belarusian electronic warfare hunts for Ukrainian drones
Powerful electronic warfare systems are being used within Belarus to make it difficult for Ukraine to monitor the situation on the border, as well as to launch provocations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Source: Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in comments to Ukrainska Pravda
Quote: "The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine notes that electronic warfare (EW) units are actively working on the other side of the border [with Belarus], with the primary aim of preventing surveillance by the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the state border.
In particular, their EW units are trying to suppress the work of our drones, and often intercept the UAV surveillance that we use.
Unlike the neighbouring country, which is constantly trying to accuse our state of something, we are not creating any provocations at the border. Our actions are exclusively defensive in nature.
In fact, Belarus is a satellite state of the Russian Federation and provides its territory, training grounds, and a base for units of the Russian Armed Forces. Where does the constant threat of missile and air strikes come from, in particular with attack UAVs? In the meantime, it is surprising how they try to shift the responsibility for increasing tensions to Ukraine.
Recently, the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus pointed out Ukrainian fortifications and for some reason was surprised by them, but they should understand: as long as Belarus is under the influence of the Russian Federation, we will do everything we can to ensure our security.
In addition to re strengthening this front by deploying border guard units and other units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in other words, by means of manpower, we are also building a literal fortification of the border and border areas.
Among these are engineering barriers, which are currently being set up, and the Ukrainian military is mining individual areas. This is not done in order to invade Belarus, but to defend Ukraine against aggressors.
Every possible means is being used in order to complicate any attempt by Belarus to advance troops with the aim of committing aggression against our country.
Ukraine did not start this war, but, unfortunately, Belarus is a country that supports Russia. That is why fortifications are being built along the entire length of the border with the Republic of Belarus [ a total of 1,084 km - ed.]."
Details: As Demchenko explained, fortunately, the situation on the border with Belarus is currently under control.
As regards the Belarusians, Ukrainian border guards are not seeing any changes at the moment in the number of units of Belarusian Armed Forces near the border with Ukraine, nor any changes in the nature of their actions, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service noted.
Considerable attention continues to be paid to this area, because the actions taken by Russia and Belarus - in particular, the increase in their combined (military) force - do not exclude aggression against Ukraine [from across the Belarusian border -ed.].
