Reznikov shows Ukrainian-made bulletproof vests for Armed Forces
Oleksii Reznikov, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, has announced that Ukraine is improving the logistics with the assistance of the NATO Logfas [Logistics Functional Area Services] program, and the government has formed a reserve of bulletproof vests and helmets.

Quote: "As of 17 November 2022, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence not only met the current needs of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, but also formed and has been maintaining a reserve for the army in the form of more than 200,000 bulletproof vests and more than 100,000 helmets...
We are improving logistics, including via the implementation of the NATO Logfas program.
We explain in detail the logic of our actions to partners and build a system of medium- and long-term support projects. This attracts the economic potential of the free world to the benefit of Ukraine. Russia will lose on this field."
Details: Reznikov states that the reserve of needs of Ukrainian Armed Forces will gradually grow, in accordance with requests.
Ukrainian manufacturers of bulletproof vests were able to produce from three to five thousand vests per month in the winter of 2022. That absolutely did not meet the demands of the military.
In the spring of 2022, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence did a lot of work to ensure that Ukrainian manufacturers of armours were able to maintain and increase production capacity.
Quote: "Next year, Ukraine will be able to independently provide all the needs of the Armed Forces in bulletproof vests and helmets. If necessary, imports can be added as a minor supplement.
I’ve got Ukrainian-made helmets and vests on the table in front of me, which match the fourth and sixth class of protection according to NATO standards.
Let me stress this: what you see is not imported and then assembled and stitched together, but produced – from steel and ceramic plates to fabric, fittings, special threads, etc."
Details: The minister said that currently Ukraine did not have the opportunity to produce only one specific component, as there are no appropriate technologies in the chemical industry.
Currently, a sixth class-protection bulletproof vest with ceramic plates and a number of innovations that reduce the load on the back and allow to quickly reset the vest with one move is also being tested.
Reznikov noted that during the active stage of the war, Ukraine became de facto independent in one of the important elements of equipment for its defenders.
Quote: "We are trying to apply a similar strategy wherever it is justified so that Ukraine relies on its potential as much as possible and develops it – first, in the process of providing weapons and military equipment.
The Ministry of Defence, in particular, initiated and ensured the adoption of the government's decision, which significantly simplified the process of testing and acceptance of samples for armament or supply.
The next step will be a review of all existing R&D (research and development) projects to leave funding only for those that are truly result-oriented. And also a change in the approach to the implementation of R&D."
Details: As Reznikov states, a very difficult period is ahead: "The enemy is resorting to terror to cause a humanitarian crisis. But the balance has already changed. Russia is doomed to defeat. Ukraine will definitely win. We are working to ensure that the world accepts the Ukrainian vision of victory, and that it comes as soon as possible."
