Verkhovna Rada extends martial law to 19 February

Members of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) have extended martial law and general mobilisation until 19 February of next year.

Details: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has extended martial law and general mobilisation by 90 days, until 19 February 2023. Decrees 8189 and 8190 were supported by 294 and 297 Members of Parliament respectively.

This is the fourth time that the Ukrainian Parliament has voted for martial law to be extended. After 24 February, these votes took place on 15 March, 21 April and 15 August.

Background: On 8 November Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, proposed that the Verkhovna Rada extend martial law and mobilisation in Ukraine by 90 days.
