Russia spends up to US$1 billion to attack Ukrainian infrastructure on 15 November

During a major missile strike on the territory of Ukraine on Tuesday, November 15, the Russian occupation forces fired missiles and launched drones worth a total of half a billion to a billion US dollars.

Details: Ukrainian Air Force noted that on 15 November, the Russian forces attacked Ukraine using 96 air-launched and sea-launched cruise missiles (Kh-101, Kh-555, 3M-54 Kalibr), Kh-59 guided aircraft missiles, Shahed-136/131, Orion, and Orlan-10.

On this day, the air defence of Ukraine shot down the following:

  • 75 cruise missiles (Kh-101, Kh-555, and 3M-54 Kalibr);
  • 2 Kh-59 guided aircraft missiles;
  • 10 Shahed-136/131 attack drones;
  • 1 Orion UAV;
  • 1 Orlan-10 UAV.

According to Forbes, the cost of one 3M-54 Kalibr missile is US$6.5 million. The Kh-101 missile is worth US$13 million, and the Kh-555 missile, according to open sources, is worth US$7.5 million.

Accordingly, Russia has spent an estimated 495 million to 963 million US dollars on these weapons alone.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one Kh-59 guided missile costs US$300,000. Thus, two are worth US$600,000.

Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 attack drones, according to information in open sources, cost an estimated US$20,000 to $50,000 per unit. On average, 10 such UAVs cost US$350,000.

According to the General Staff of Ukraine, Russian Orlan-10 drones cost US$100,000 per unit.

As for the price of the Orion UAV, according to unofficial information of Russian defence outlets, the creation of one prototype of the strike UAV cost an estimated US$30 million. However, the price of the serial complex, which includes a control station and three UAVs, remains unknown.

Accordingly, the total cost of missile launchers used by Russia against Ukraine on Tuesday, 15 November, is estimated at US$526.05 million to $994.05 million.
