Air-raid sirens sounded throughout Ukraine for over 30 minutes
The Ukrainian government has announced air-raid sirens throughout most of Ukraine on the morning of 16 November. The sirens were sounded for over 30 minutes.

Details: As of 09:50 Kyiv time, air-raid sirens were sounded throughout all of Ukraine, except for Russian-occupied Crimea.
The sirens announce the threat of missile strikes; their sound instructs local residents to find shelter.
Belaruski Hajun has reported that three fighter jets took off from the Baranovichi airfield in Belarus at 09:10 and a MiG-31K jet (tail number RF-92339) took off from the Machulishchy airfield, also in Belarus, at 09:45.
Update: At 10:18, an air-raid all-clear was given in the city of Kyiv and a number of other oblasts.
Background:
- On 15 November, Russian missiles hit residential buildings in central Kyiv, killing at least one civilian. At least half of Kyiv’s households have been left without power as a result of the Russian missile attack.
- Russia has also launched missiles on Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Volyn, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Kharkiv oblasts.
- Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for Ukraine’s Air Force, said that Russian forces launched around 100 missiles on Ukraine on 15 November.
- Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the President’s Office, has reported that 70 out of 90 Russian missiles were shot down; however, more than 7 million people have been left without power.
- Early reports suggest that one person was killed and six more sustained injuries as a result of Russia’s large-scale missile attack on 15 November.
