Quote: "Within the UN, our diplomats worked with partners for a long time to agree on and adopt two very important resolutions.

The first one was passed today; it calls for the establishment of an international compensation mechanism to compensate for all losses caused by the Russian war at the expense of Russian assets. The reparations that Russia will have to pay for what it has committed are now part of international legal reality.

We are still discussing the second resolution with our partners; it concerns the establishment of a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine. We will do everything to ensure that both of them are implemented."

Background: At a special session on Monday, 14 November, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution prepared by Ukraine and co-sponsored by about 50 other states, which calls on Russia to pay compensation for the damage caused by its full-scale invasion.
