Mykolaivoblenergo [a joint-stock company engaged in the distribution, transportation and supply of electricity in the Mykolaiv Oblast – ed.] estimates its losses caused by Russia’s military aggression at half a billion hryvnias [roughly US$13 million].

Quote: "As a result of the hostilities by the aggressor country, the damage caused to the energy infrastructure is provisionally estimated at UAH 0.5 billion. And this is without taking the damage caused to the territories liberated over the past week into account," Danylkiv said.

"Two of the company’s employees came under fire while they were doing repair work and were wounded," said Danylkiv.

Details: According to Danylkiv, since the beginning of the full-scale war, more than 210 high-voltage overhead power lines and 66 transformer substations with a voltage class of 6-150 kV have been damaged as a result of the hostilities. Mykolaiv power engineers have also lost 12 specialist vehicles, and another 48 vehicles have been significantly damaged.

Quote: "While the first targeted attacks on the Ukrainian energy system occurred on 2 October, in Mykolaiv Oblast these attacks have been taking place since the beginning of hostilities. Since transformers are constantly being damaged, as you can imagine, we now have a shortage of 100 tonnes of transformer oil," said Danylkiv.

This week, after receiving permits from the military, the company will start assessing the condition of the networks in the territories that were liberated last week and repairing them.

"There are entire settlements that have effectively been destroyed. There are neither networks nor settlements left, and in many villages there are only 10-20 people left. We have started to provide power where possible," Danylkiv added.

Background:

The Russian invasion has caused UAH 973 billion [roughly US$26 billion] worth of damage to Ukraine's road network.

The losses incurred by Ukrtelecom [Ukraine's biggest telephone service provider – ed.] since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion amount to almost UAH 650 million [roughly US$15,974,000].
