Human rights ombudsman appeals to Defence Minister about journalists stripped of accreditation
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights, has appealed to Oleksii Reznikov, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, demanding that the Ukrainian and foreign journalists who covered the events in Kherson immediately after the liberation should have their accreditation reinstated.

Details: The ombudsman explained that control over media access in wartime is necessary and that this is an international standard.
Quote from Lubinets: "However, there is a lack of communication with the international media, whose task is to provide up-to-date information from the scene so that citizens of [our] partner countries can see for themselves what the purpose of the weapons and humanitarian programmes being funded by [their] taxes is.
Cancelling work permits is unacceptable in such circumstances.
There is a need to reconsider this decision and the approach being taken to the work of civil-military cooperation with the media. This is exactly what I have asked Reznikov to do."
Background:
- On 13 November, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine revoked the work permits of at least six journalists working with film crews because they had apparently broken the rules on working in the area of hostilities.
- Among them were journalists from CNN, Sky News, Ukrainska Pravda and Hromadske.
- Journalists and media organisations are demanding to have their accreditation reinstated.
