Quote from Zelenskyy: "Of course, we will continue to strengthen our air defence. But every 10 successful strikes cost the [Russian] terrorists four times as many missiles."
Details: Zelenskyy also noted that Russia is even less effective in its use of drones, including those supplied by Iran.
He said that the so-called "world’s second army" is "no longer even twenty-second in terms of its effectiveness… And we will do everything within our power to make sure it moves to the bottom of that ranking. This will happen," Zelenskyy stressed.
Background:
- On the morning of 31 October, Russian forces attacked critical infrastructure facilities and civilian homes, violating the norms of international humanitarian law, as well as laws and customs of war. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported that Russian forces deployed 55 guided air-to-surface missiles to attack military and civilian infrastructure facilities in Ukraine; 45 of these missiles were shot down by Ukraine’s air defence forces.
- Oleksii Reznikov, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, is convinced that by attacking civilian infrastructure facilities of Ukraine, Russia has de facto admitted it was a terrorist state, and that it was time for the world to recognise Russia as such.
