Soldiers face pay arrears in Luhansk Oblast

Russian soldiers stationed in Luhansk Oblast have not been paid their salaries for several months; thus, the occupiers cannot pay the promised compensation to civilians for their destroyed dwellings in Sievierodonetsk.

Quote from Haidai: "The soldiers have not been able to receive their promised payments for over a month. Although they know that no matter what, there will be a new Lada [a reference to a Russian make of car, which a Russian family recently bought using money from compensation for the death of their son who had gone to war – ed.]. There is always something to fight for.

Currently, the city of Sievierodonetsk has a population of up to 10,000 residents. The housing stock has been destroyed by 80%, not to mention the lack of infrastructure.

However, during the four months of the Russian occupation, no one even thought of restoring anything, even for propaganda purposes. They [occupying authorities] announced the compensation for destroyed housing before the sham referendum, but people never saw the money."

Details: Haidai noted that there are still so-called "checkpoints'' between the LPR [the so-called Luhansk People’s Republic] and Russia in Luhansk Oblast, which the occupiers promised to cancel back on 11 October. People who want to leave for the Russian Federation through the Dovzhanskyi checkpoint have to stay and wait more than two hours for permission to travel.

Meanwhile, the Russian forces continue to attack settlements on the Kupiansk, Lyman, and Bakhmut fronts. On 29 October, the Russian occupiers fired at following settlements:

On the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts: vicinities of Kyslivka, Krokhmalne, Hrekivka, Zarichne, Novoiehorivka, Berestove, Nevske, Olhivka, Tabaivka, Terny, Torske and Yampolivka;

On the Bakhmut front: areas of settlements of Andriivka, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Zvanivka, Siversk, Zelenopillia, Soledar, Odradivka, Opytne, Niu-York, Vasiukivka, Serebrianka and Yakovlivka.

At the same time, according to Haidai, the Ukrainian Air Force attacked Russian troops 32 times during the day on 29 October. Twenty-three strikes were conducted on clusters of Russian military personnel, weapons and equipment; three strikes on platoon strong points and six strikes on anti-aircraft defence systems occurred, too.

Ukrainian air defence forces hit a Russian Iskander-K missile and 2 Orlan-10 UAVs.

Ukraine’s Rocket Forces and Artillery struck 6 areas where Russian weapons and military equipment were concentrated, as well as 3 ammunition storage points, 2 anti-aircraft defence systems and 9 other crucial military targets.
