Almost 200,000 Russians have fled from Russia to Uzbekistan since July alone

Almost 320,000 Russian citizens fled to Uzbekistan during the first nine months of this year, 189,000 of them in the third quarter.

Details: The press service says the biggest wave of immigrants from Russia to Uzbekistan occurred within the period of July to September – 189,175 people. Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee reports that the number of Russian tourists over the period of January to September - 395,100 people - was 2.1 times higher than in the same period of 2021.
Background:
- On 21 September Russian President Vladimir Putin announced partial mobilisation in Russia, and it was reported that the Russian government was planning to draft 300,000 reservists.
- Kazakhstan’s authorities reported in early October that over 200,000 Russian citizens had entered the country since 21 September.
