Russian propaganda has begun to spread the message that Ukraine has apparently already completed "technical preparation for a provocation with a ‘dirty bomb’."

Details: The propagandists refer to a source familiar with the situation and write that "specialists of the Ukrainian enterprise Pivdenmash have prepared a dummy rocket, which is planned to be filled with radioactive material and then allegedly brought down over the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant."

Quote: "Pivdenmash specialists have already produced a mock-up of the Iskander complex missile, the main cassette part of which is planned to be filled with radioactive material, and then "brought down" by Ukrainian air defence forces over the exclusion zone of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant in order to announce the Russian launch of a nuclear charge."

Background:

  • Earlier, Russian propagandists spread rumors that Ukraine was preparing to blow up the so-called "dirty bomb" in order to accuse Russia of using weapons of mass destruction and turn the whole world against Moscow.
  • Since 23 October, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, began to tell his colleagues from other countries that Ukraine was allegedly preparing provocations with the use of a "dirty bomb". Shoigu and the head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov are actively telling their colleagues in the West and in Asia about the "provocation" allegedly planned by Ukraine.
  • The USA, Britain and France rejected the Russian Federation's allegations of a "dirty bomb" as false.
  • Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, has officially invited the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to send a mission to Ukraine in order to refute Moscow’s provocative allegations that Ukraine is developing a "dirty bomb".
