President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a telephone conversation with Rishi Sunak, who became the new prime minister of the United Kingdom on Tuesday.

European Pravda reported that the President of Ukraine spoke about this in his evening video address.

"I believe that the partnership between our states and the tradition of British leadership in defending democracy and freedom will continue to strengthen. I invited the Prime Minister to visit Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.

Earlier, he welcomed Sunak's appointment as the head of the UK government and expressed his readiness to continue strengthening the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Britain.

As previously reported, King Charles III asked former Chancellor Rishi Sunak to form a government on 25 October.

Sunak replaced Liz Truss, who announced her resignation last week after six weeks in office.

Sunak has been in politics since 2015, and before being appointed prime minister, he was a member of the Environment Select Committee as well as working at the Ministry of Housing and the Treasury.
