90 settlements liberated in Kherson Oblast

The defence forces of Ukraine’s south have liberated more than 90 settlements in Kherson Oblast with a total population of 12,000 people.

Background:
- On 21 October, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported that Ukraine’s defence forces have liberated 551 cities, towns and villages in Kharkiv Oblast and 88 in Kherson Oblast.
- On 22 October, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that Russian occupation forces have withdrawn from the villages of Charivne and Chkalove in Kherson Oblast and have evacuated officers and medical personnel from the city of Beryslav.
- On 12 October, Operational Command Pivden (South) reported that five villages in the Beryslav district in Kherson Oblast have been liberated: Novovasylivka, Novohryhorivka, Nova Kamianka, Tryfonivka and Chervone.
- Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, said that Russian occupation forces are creating the illusion that they are leaving Kherson and are in fact preparing to defend the occupied city.
- According to American intelligence assessments, the Ukrainian military has a window of opportunity to make gains against Russia’s army over the next six weeks.
