OLEKSII PAVLYSH – FRIDAY, 21 OCTOBER 2022, 16:07

Gas supply has been partially restored in Donetsk Oblast; centralised heating will be provided in 15 hromadas [an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories] in Donetsk Oblast; critical infrastructure facilities will be heated in 10 hromadas, and heating points will be installed.

Quote: "It is, without exaggeration, a heroic act by all those involved in this process. In particular, the employees of Oblgaz [operator of gas distribution networks], Ukrtransgaz [independent gas storage operator of Ukraine], oblast and local military administrations."

Details: Oleksii Chernyshov, the Minister for Development of Hromadas and Territories, praised the workers at the meeting of the Headquarters for the preparation of housing and communal services facilities for the wintering in conditions of martial law.

Quote: "I thank the Minister for the high evaluation of the work; however, I understand that even these efforts of ours do not guarantee a smooth passage of the heating season. In addition, the centralised heating throughout Oblast has not been provided as well," Kyrylenko wrote.

Details: According to him, there will be centralised heating in 15 hromadas of Donetsk Oblast; critical infrastructure facilities will be heated in 10 hromadas and heating points will be installed.

Quote: "Currently, provision of centralised heating is not possible in 10 hromadas, primarily because there are active hostilities and the restoration of destroyed critical infrastructure is impossible.

To date [21 October – ed.], 4 hospitals and 10 educational institutions in the Andriivska, Udachnenska and Shakhivska hromadas are already receiving the heat carriers. In general, the heating season in Donetsk Oblast starts on 1 November. Of course, the time when it begins can be affected by both the weather and military operations; the Russians will definitely use the frost factor as a weapon primarily against the civilian population," the head of the Oblast Military Administration added.

He also noted that the population continues to be evacuated, especially from the zone of immediate danger.

Earlier, the gas supply in Donetsk Oblast was stopped due to Russian attacks. In the summer, it was predicted that the region could be left completely without gas in the winter.
