Igor Girkin (aka Strelkov), the former "Minister of Defence of the Donetsk People’s Republic" and the ex-leader of Donetsk militants, has already reached the Russian-occupied territory of Ukraine.
Source: Kyrylo Budanov, the Head of the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, during an interview for Orestokratiia project [a TV programme led by Orest Sokhar, Editor-in-Chief of the Ukrainian outlet Obozrevatel — ed.]
Quote: "We know one of his locations. He has already arrived in the Russian-occupied territory of Ukraine."
Details: Budanov reiterated that the Chief Intelligence Directorate is offering a reward of US$100,000 for capturing Girkin and handing him over to Ukrainian law enforcement officers. Relevant information should be sent to number 093-117-58-09.
The Head of Intelligence said that some individuals have sent in "several absolutely real offers".
He also emphasised that US$100,000 was actually a low price for such a valuable prisoner. After all, Girkin is an "important carrier of information" and an important person for international criminal justice. "This is, as they say, The Hague’s client," Budanov noted.
Background:
- On 15 October, Girkin's wife, Myroslava Reginskaya, posted a photo of them together, featuring the Russian militant dressed in a military uniform. By doing so, she hinted that he went to fight against Ukraine.
- Ukrainian patriots and activists have promised US$50,000 as a reward for capturing Girkin.
- The Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine also guaranteed a reward for the captured militant, suggesting paying twice as much, US$100,000.
