Quote from Revenko: "The first [military trains carrying Russian troops, members] of the [‘joint military group’], began to arrive in Belarus. The relocation will take several days. The total number will be a little less than 9,000 people. More information will be provided at a briefing for military attachés."

Details: On 10 October, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, announced an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to deploy a "joint regional military group". He said that Belarus agreed to the deployment of additional Russian troops on its territory in order to ensure its security "in light of the rapid change of circumstances".

Lukashenko said on 10 October that Russian troops would soon start arriving in Belarus. "[D]o not count on a large number of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. But it will be more than 1,000 people," said the Belarusian dictator.

The Belarusian Ministry of Defence announced earlier that the first military trains carrying Russian troops have started to arrive in Belarus.
