Quote from Lukashenko: "You know our army: it is an estimated 70,000 people. This is the core. Well, I think that there is no need to demand 10-15,000 more from Russia now, there are enough other problems there. You know what they are. Therefore, we will rely on that at the moment. We're training the guys."
Details: Lukashenko also stated that the Polish authorities had expressed their wish to deploy nuclear weapons on their territory, and according to a sociological survey conducted in that country, over 50% of Poles support the deployment of nuclear weapons.
Background: On 10 October, Lukashenko announced that Russia and Belarus had agreed on the deployment of a joint regional grouping of troops in the country’s west. Due to the escalation on the western borders of the Union State [an organisation aiming to deepen the relationship between Russia and Belarus through integration in economic and defence policy], we agreed on the deployment of the regional grouping of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus," Lukashenko said at the time.
