Electricity supply has been restored to almost 4000 settlements and millions of consumers, and there is no shortage of electricity.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this during a government meeting.
Shmyhal stated that Ukraine was prepared for Russia to try to destroy important infrastructure facilities – various response scenarios have been developed.
"The Ukrainian energy system is functioning normally. We did not ask for emergency assistance from our European neighbours. There is no shortage of electricity. Repairs are continuing right now. Electricity supply has been restored to almost 4000 settlements and millions of consumers," the head of government said.
According to Shmyhal, the state has purchased the necessary backup equipment. Where necessary, the State Emergency Service provides mobile power plants to important public facilities in cities where electricity supply has not yet been restored.
At the same time, the prime minister stressed that everyone should be prepared for temporary power outages. In order to avoid overloading the power grid, where necessary, the lights are being turned off on a rotating basis.
"We will not embellish reality - this winter will be difficult. Therefore, we once again urge everyone to carefully prepare for winter. It is desirable that each family has a supply of basic necessities: warm clothes, candles, flashlights, and batteries. It is important to prepare for this in case light or heat disappears as a result of massive rocket attacks," he said.
Reminder:
Since Monday, 10 October, about 30% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been affected by Russian missile strikes, Ukrainian energy minister Herman Halushchenko said on Tuesday.
