Plaques dedicated to statesmen of Latvia, Poland, Czechia and Slovenia appear on Alley of Courage in Kyiv

On Friday, two new plaques were opened on the Alley of Courage in Kyiv. They are dedicated to Egils Levits, President of Latvia; Mateusz Morawiecki and Petr Fiala, Prime Ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic, respectively; Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the former Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, and Janez Janša, the ex-Prime Minister of Slovenia.

Details: One plaque is dedicated to Levits, and the other to Morawiecki, Kaczynski, Fiala and Janša.

The Latvian leader strongly condemned actions of the Russians, describing them as genocide of the Ukrainian people. He said that Ukraine should receive the assistance it needs to defeat the aggressor. Levits also supported the initiative to deprive citizens of Latvia who backed the full-scale Russian aggression of their citizenship.

Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland, along with Kaczynski, the former Deputy Prime Minister and his colleagues from the Czech Republic and Slovenia, arrived in Ukraine in the first days of the full-scale war. They also strongly condemned Russia's aggression and continued to provide military and humanitarian assistance to Kyiv.

Background: The Alley of Courage was opened in Kyiv by Volodymyr Zelenslyy and Andrzej Duda, President of Poland on August 23. It will feature the names of political leaders and other representatives of partner countries that have provided Ukraine with important support since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. 

Previously, Boris Johnson, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has received a nameplate on the Alley of Courage.
