Since 1 September, Armed Forces have liberated more than 1,000 sq km of Ukraine’s land – Zelenskyy

Since 1 September, Ukrainian defenders have liberated more than 1,000 square kilometres of the country’s territory that had been occupied by the Russian forces.

Quote: "Whilst continuing defence operations, our heroes have already liberated dozens of settlements. And today this movement continued, [and] there are new results. In total, since 1 September, more than a thousand square kilometres of our territory have been liberated.
I am grateful to everyone who made it happen! I am grateful to the army, intelligence officers and special forces for every Ukrainian flag that has been hoisted these days."
Details: Zelenskyi noted that on 8 September, he held a new meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. First of all, they talked about the actions on the fronts.
According to the president, the Headquarters will continue to work in the format of fairly frequent meetings so that Ukrainian commanders in the fields will have full support on all levels. He added that the Armed Forces, the Intelligence and the entire defence and security sector receive all the necessary resources, all the necessary materials, as well as political, informational, diplomatic and other means for the effective defence of Ukraine and the expulsion of the occupiers.
Zelenskyy added that all of the government’s efforts are focused on the needs of the front and protection of Ukrainians.
Background:
- On Sunday, 4 September, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the village of Vysokopillia in Kherson Oblast.
- On the same day, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated two towns in southern Ukraine and one in Donetsk Oblast.
- On 6 September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated several towns and villages in southern Ukraine. The military leadership will report this officially only after the clean-up operation is completed.
- On 7 September, President Zelenskyy announced that he had received good news from the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Kharkiv Oblast, but that it is not yet time to disclose which towns and villages have been liberated.
