Russia fires on civilian cars approaching pontoon crossings – Deputy Minister of Defence
UKRAINSKA PRAVDA — THURSDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER 2022, 15:12
Russian invaders are opening fire on civilian cars approaching the pontoon crossings they have set up in the Kherson region.
Source: Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence, at a briefing on 8 September
Quote from Maliar: "This week on the territory of Kherson Oblast, the enemy imposed strict restrictions on the movement of local residents between settlements, which makes it difficult for many people to obtain food, medicine and medical assistance. Violation of the demands of the occupiers is severely punished.
In particular, Russian servicemen fire without warning on civilian vehicles approaching pontoon crossings."
Details: Maliar added that in the occupied territories, the Russians demand that schoolchildren receive propaganda materials that fake historical events and spread narratives about the "common future" of the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
Background:
- Operational Command Pivden (South) reported that all strategic bridges in Kherson Oblast are unsuitable for heavy military equipment movement; also the Defence Forces of the South of Ukraine have destroyed three crossings held by the occupiers.
- There are virtually no large bridges left in Kherson Oblast for Russians to use. The bridges have been destroyed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, thanks to the effective use of HIMARS missile systems; only pedestrian crossings remain.
