Belarus starts military exercises focused on "liberating captured territories"

The Belarusian army has launched command and staff training focused on "liberating territory temporarily captured by the enemy".

Quote: "The training will make it possible to practise conducting combat (special) operations to liberate territory that has been temporarily captured by the enemy, restore control over the state border in the zones (strips) of responsibility of groups of troops, provide air support to soldiers, ensure martial law security measures, and combat enemy subversive and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) and illegal military groups."
Details: The training will take place at the Brest training ground and areas in the Minsk and Vitebsk oblasts, and will last until 14 September.
Previously:
- On 1 September, Ukrainian Intelligence reported that exercises would take place with the participation of the Russian military and Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) member states.
- In mid-August, Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, gave assurances that there are no military threats to Ukraine from Belarus today, other than the existing ones.
