On Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Georgia Meloni, the leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy party, on her victory in the parliamentary elections held on Sunday.

As European Pravda reports, the head of state wrote about this on Twitter.

"We congratulate Georgia Meloni and her political alliance on its victory in the elections. We appreciate Italy’s constant support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. We look forward to fruitful cooperation with the new Italian government," the post reads.

In the parliamentary elections held in Italy on 25 September, the right-wing coalition together with the parties known for their support of Russia won in both houses of the parliament.

The Brothers of Italy party received its historically highest result and gained the most votes at 26%. This party has an image of right-wing radicals and "neo-fascists" in the EU, which it is now trying to get rid of. In particular, it supported Ukraine during the war.

Their allies, Matteo Salvini's "League" and Silvio Berlusconi's "Forza Italia", whose leaders are known for their support for Russia, scored 9% and 8%, respectively.
