Quote from Danilov: "If the global community and the NATO countries do not respond to such an outrageous attack (if God forbid it happens), we will still continue to defend our land.
I want everyone to understand that no one can stop us: neither Putin, nor his army. We have proven this time and again."
Details: Danilov said that the National Security and Defence Council has developed detailed instructions for the citizens of Ukraine that will outline what to do in the event that Russia uses tactical nuclear weapons. The instructions will be made public and shared "as widely as possible" in the coming days.
Background:
- On 21 September, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was prepared to "deploy all weapons at its disposal" to defend "its territory". Russia considers the occupied territories of Ukraine to be part of "its territory".
- US President Joe Biden accused Putin of making "reckless" and "irresponsible" threats to use nuclear weapons.
- President Biden’s national security adviser said that the United States had warned Russia that there would be "catastrophic consequences" for the country if Moscow used nuclear weapons.
