During one of the meetings on sanctions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was outraged that Ukraine was delaying the imposition of sanctions on Russian oligarchs and war criminals.

A European Pravda source, who was present at the mentioned meeting, mentioned this, the article says.

The government created The International Working Group on Russian Sanctions in late summer. This new body is supposed to impose sanctions on war criminals and Russian oligarchs, as well as speed up the seizure of billions of Russians' assets.

On the one hand, the appearance of such a working group indicates the desire of the authorities to bring the sponsors of the war and key associates of Putin to justice as soon as possible, and on the other hand, it is not clear why this has not happened yet.

Therefore, about a month ago, the President held one of the many meetings on sanctions, which was attended by the Heads of the Office of the President, the Cabinet of Ministers and some law enforcement agencies.

European Pravda sources said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not hide his indignation at that meeting. After all, while Western countries impose sanctions on Russian oligarchs and war criminals, Ukraine is making excusese and merely giving the appearance of doing something.

Of the Russian version of the Forbes "World’s Billionaires List", 21 people are under sanctions in Ukraine. There are twice as many on the sanctions lists of international partners. And since 24 February, Ukraine has put only one Russian oligarch under sanctions.

The source noted that at the meeting in question, the President voiced a clear argument that Ukraine has the political will to punish "good Russians", and this should be done. And certain results are already there.

Background:

Ukraine is preparing to introduce new packages of sanctions, and the first decisions may concern Russian oligarchs. The National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) plans to announce all sanctions by January 2023.
